Bainbridge Island

For the last part of the trip we took the ferry over to Josh's parent's house over on Bainbridge Island. We love going there because it's so relaxing & Josh's Dad is a wonderful chef.
We went for a walk with Pat & Cathy & saw the beginning of the Japanese interment camp memorial.
Later that night we had Salmon sampler for dinner. Josh wanted to compare all the different salmons. Pat & Cathy treated us to quite a meal!
I look possessed, but here is Pat making salmon cakes the next night with the leftover salmon.
Pictures from their boat dock.
Josh wanted to help cut wood in the driveway. I think Pat thought he was joking, but he was really into it.

Primo

Josh's sister Kirsten is quite witty with gifts. We went over to their house for dinner & she told Josh to grab a beer from the styro cooler in the dining room. Josh knew something was up because the Petersen's wouldn't have a styro cooler in house! Inside the cooler she had a 6 pack of Primo on ice & his present was in a ziplock bag. She got him the limited edition of Primo surf shorts. She even included a little news article about the shorts, where she added Josh's name to the list of famous people who have them. She rocks!

Robin & Josh's B-day dinner

A few weeks ago we went out to Elua with the fam to celebrate Robin & Josh's birthday. Robin is only 24 hours older than Josh. Marley drew me as a mermaid, I think I am looking pretty good? Her writing & spelling is getting really gud...hee hee.

Photo of a 35 year old by Marley

Marley eating Carpaccio (raw beef), she has quite the palate!

The Miyamotos got Josh this really cool silver ring that has a bottle opener on the back of it, super slick party gadget. Marc told Marley to draw a beer for Josh on the card, this is what she drew. She said Uncle Josh likes drinks with olives & soda...close Marley, it's more like a dirty Martini straight up with an olive.

shaazam

We went to the Magic of Polynesia show in Waikiki. I got the tickets from an auction for Jack's school. I was really excited, but now realize why I've never heard anything about the show. The show was horrrrrible. It was like an SNL skit. We dragged Kirsten & Jack along for the 1 hour torture.

At the end of the show it magically snows..soap that is.

Campbell visit

A few weeks agao we had a Campbell & Stinson reunion. The Campbells are our traveling partners in crime, last year it was Molokai & this year we went up to the North Shore for the weekend & crashed their Hawaiian vacation. Here we are making the Campbells take pictures of us.

A Josh Fish

How cute is Lauren? She was a true Hawaiian & ran around barefoot & ate her fill of shave ice.

We got poke from Tamuras & had a poke tasting. It was awesome! The king crab was a winnah.

Go Beavs! Every year we spend a game with the Campbells, even though it wasn't live this year we still had fun cheering on the Beavs!

We had to bring out the pancake pan to make some pancake balls for breakfast. Josh was the lucky winner who got the iso peanut pancake ball. We also mashed up a Ted's pie & injected it into a pancake ball, it was so good. My fav was the chocolate strawberry ball.

Pretty rainbow.

Getting a workout with Lauren.

Will we ever grow up? We had some camera fun late at night. Here are a few of the gazillion we took. Holly is really good at writing with the flashlight. I wish I could take credit for writing my name, but it's actually Holly. I made her wear a hat so it looked like me.

Family dinner

Trying to get caught up in the blogging world-o-rama... At the end of September we had dinner at my parent's house with Granny & Papa. Granny was so cute with Macie, they read the Opihi book together. Granny gave the book to the girls because our relative illustrated the book.

This is Marley when left alone with the make up kit she got for her birthday. Too bad she wasn't wearing black, I think she could make it as a MAC girl.

Stinsons night out

Last night we went to The Varsity, formally known as Magoo's. This was our old stomping grounds when Josh lived in Manoa, so romantic I know.. We hadn't been back since it became The Varsity & I doubt we'll be back anytime soon. We watched the beginning of the UH game & ate pizza that tasted like Tombstone & warm sushi, so gross. The food was terrible. The beer selection was impressive, but nothing that you can't get at the Yardhouse down in Waikiki. Lots of Rogue beers on tap.  I got this pic of The Varsity bar off the web:
Can you tell work is slow today?

Then we headed to the Manoa Valley Theater to watch Always Patsy Cline. They extended the dates, till next weekend. I highly highly recommend this play, the actress' voice was amazing! Bonus- The theater has a bar & there was a little table for us to sit & have a drink during the play. Try & make it to the play if you can!!

Happy very unbirthday to me!!

My wonderful family surprised me with a un-birthday dinner celebration at Alan Wong's this past weekend. I share my birthday with my niece Marley so we are usually busy with her parties & don't get to go out to eat. My dad lured me in & said he had a gift certificate to use. Dinner was amazing! I highly recommend "da bag" as an appetizer, clams & kalua pig. YUM! My sister got me a lei & the pancake puff pan as a gift, which was so nice of her because she got me a really nice bday gift. I was so excited! Marc has me hooked on pancake puffs. "Pancake puffs add pizzazz to every meal with these savory puffs!" HA! Seriously everyone needs a pancake puff pan...Liz have you bought one yet? Hee hee watch the info commercial & you'll want one. Cracks me up!

pigeon to the max??

Last week we went to see a local play by Lee Cataluna called "Da Mayah". It's in pigeon, the local dialect in hawaii, but one that I have difficulty with... So I was having lunch with Shannon before the play & was telling her I was going to see "Da MAYA-ah" (this is how I had been pronouncing it for weeks). Then she asked me what it was about & I said, you know 'bout the mayor.
So then Shannon said something of the likes, "isn't it called da mayah, like mayor in pigeon?"
Ooops... HA!

Beavs VS Warriors

We had our friends over to watch the Beavs play UH & I forgot to take pictures of our football party, but I did manage to take pix of the food. I am so odd. Josh made the Orange frosting for the cupcakes because he said my orange turned out too light OSU.

Have I ever mentioned that my brother in law rocks? My sister calls in the morning right after we woke up to say Marc is dropping off some food for us on his way to drop the girls off at gymnastics. He had made us pancake balls with little smokies & cheese inside to serve at our early morning football party. Whoah, were they a big hit! Wow, who wakes up that early to make such a delicious treat? They were even warm when he delivered them. I need to get one of these pankcake ball pans. YUM.

Mandi's 30th

For Mandi's 30th birthday I got to be one with my culture & experience Tanaka of Tokyo. I'd never been to one of these places before & was I in for a real treat. Joe was our waiter & he was made of pure talent, he could throw knives, make fire, catch shrimp tales in his hat & spin rice bowls. Next stop America's got talent?! Matt thought it was like being at a Stomp show. Check out Joe creating the "Volcano".

Happy Birthday Mandi-san!

After Tanaka of Tokyo we headed to Mai Tais to hangout. I need some short friends or tall friends that don't wear heels, my neck was hurting.

uno friday

Kay, so I know I am behind with blogging...
A few weeks ago, we ventured out to 1st Friday & met up with some friends to see ART. My friend Maya was featured in a show at hotel 39. Pictured below is Maya in front of one of her many masterpieces. She tore up old maps & sewed them back together in this very oranate, artistic & hard to describe fashion... Very talented!

vee-ball

We watched the UH women's volleyball game last night, UH vs Minnesota. Josh's boss gave us tickets so we had to go... We were seated close to the court & got to see all the action up close. I'm not sure #12 on Minnesota was a girl? Surprisingly, I had a great time but it probably had to do with the giant beers they were selling. The fries were gross, but let's talk nuts...there is a cart that sells hot cinnamon coated nuts & tasty treats, so good! Go Bows.

Fonseland

We went up to Oregon to visit Fonsey, Thad & Ziggy over the Labor day weekend. It was a short trip but, we were able to fit a lot of fun times in. I was just excited to see Fonse & the little Ziggy bump, so cute! I can't wait for my fonse-ephew to be born.  Below is a group shot of us at McMeinamans.  We enjoyed some cajun tater tots & beers, nice way to start off vah-kay.
The Lairds took us for a yachting adventure, it was amazing that Josh & I fit into one boat.  The water was freezing!  Here we are loading up the "Destiny's Child", Josh named our boat.
Loving the life of leisure.
Ah-hoy Lairds!   Look Mister came along for the ride too.

We went to the Lairds for a BBQ & to discuss foods that we could 'Jun'.  Spam won...
Posing with Mister, Josh's new friend.
Thad & Josh went mountain biking while we stayed in town & shopped.

Josh getting on his sweet bike..
There goes Thad.

Josh reunites with his best friends, fries & beer at the brewery.
We went on a short hike to walk off all the calories we had consumed.  We were on the hunt for some wildlife, but only saw some animal footprints.

Warming up by the fire at our Inn.
I decided to get in on the action & went mountain biking with Josh.  It was beautiful & I got to be one with nature.
