Earlier this fall, I had a craving for brats & beer because I lived on it when I was in college in Austria. So we decided to have a beer tasting/Oktoberfest at our house complete with braised cabbage, brats, scalloped potatoes & my mom's apple tart. We were able to sample 13 beers, a few that we managed to bring back from Seattle & a bottle of red wine. We all had such a good time that we have formed a "club" & have already planned on having a winter & summer beer tasting.
Josh & the brats, he boiled them in beer & then floured them before grilling. So good!
I made braised cabbage with apples & cinnamon. My mom said my great grandfather Adolf would have been so proud of my German cooking.
The Miyashiros brought red hook tasting glasses for everybody to sample the beers.
