Japan Eve

I should be doing something much more productive than updating my blog, but I'm really excited about going to the homeland tomorrow! My 2 biggest hopes when I step off the plane:
1. Hello Kitty & My Melody are at the airport to greet me.
2. That everyone looks just like me! It could happen I am 100% Japanese, but could the country be that beautiful (hee hee!!)

Hoppity Easter

We had Easter brunch at my parent's house with all the family & the girls went on an Easter egg hunt.
Marc's pretty custard fruit tart...yum!
Can you find the Easter egg? This was the last egg the girls found.
The girls learned a game from Auntie Nina where they hit the eggs together & the first egg to crack was a loser.

My sister & her beautiful family. If you zoom in Bailey is smiling
I found Easter grass at Target!!! So cute!

I recieved this great junk email the other day:
"Lose 20 pounds over night its really simple and free -press here for more details"
It sounds rather painful & would require a long night in the bathroom & maybe even a trip to the ER.

Ko Olina

We went "camping" Sugihara style out at the villas in Ko Olina this past weekend. I got my blackened ahi on & we all relaxed beachside.

Sunset from our lanai, everyone saw a green flast except for me. Maybe I had too many margaritas?

For breakfast Marc made us fried rice! YUM!
Emma came for a visit

Playing a round of Disney DVD Bingo.

The Birthday Buddy Bingo team...we lost big time & my teamate went to Uncle Josh's team, traitor.
Sadie has been under the weather so Marley had Uncle Josh catch her a frog for a get well gift. I think it lifted her spirits.

North Shore 09

North shore blast 2009! The Sera-Geenty-Melvin have arrived from Chicago, Ohio & San Fran. We all headed up to the beach house for some great family fun.
Uncle Marc is so good with the kids, when the bounce house fun ran it's course Marc played a game with the kids using a plastic bottle cap. It kept them entertained for at least an hour.

We met up with Max & Robyn Sera at the mall & entertained ourselves with all the Japanese products in Shirokiya. Josh found this massage vest, you have to hold onto the cords so that it doesn't fall off.

Max & Josh trying out different products...

Robyn Sera & Me at Mai Tais enjoying lots of fried foods & beer. I miss my cuzzzzz!

Malama Na Keiki

It was a rainy night at the Hanahauoli fundraiser, but it didn't dampen our fun. Hanahauoli is the grade school where we all went including my Dad & now Marley is in the 1st grade.
Robin & Denise. The mommies enjoying their wine.
Hanahauoli school colors are orange and white, Josh got a kick out of seeing a OSU shirt in the school's gallery.
We went out with some of the parents after the fundraiser & went dancing.

Tar-jay!

2 Target stores finally opened on Oahu!! I am ashamed to say I got up early & stood in line for the opening. I let Josh know what I was wearing just in case I got trampled on.

We were greeted with cheering & clapping at the door. This picture was from the newspaper, I was too busy running into the store. I went up each asile twice & stocked up on a lot of useless crap.

Noche Habana 2009

My sister's new non-profit business I ola La Hui had a fundraiser down at Aloha Tower called Noche Habana. It was a cigar tasting, if you like cigars you need to come next year because you can smoke them at this event. The owner flew in from Florida to explain each one.
Our Goodie bag of 5 cigars.

Hey aren't you supposed to be running the Great Aloha run tomorrow morning?

Marc made a beautiful feather lei for the auction.

My Dad had donated a couple of bottles of wine for the silent auction. There was a bidding war over them & when I went to check in on the auction there was a bidder named "Juan Stinson" bidding on them. I told my sister that Josh was trying to bid on thing without me knowing under the alias, "Juan". I went back to our table & told him to stop bidding because my Dad had more bottles at home, but he swore he didn't bid. So at the end of the night they announced the auction winner, "Juan Stinson!" I hit Josh. But, low & behold this little guy raised his hand...it was our new relative JUAN STINSON! We later introduced ourselves & found we might have long lost relatives in Texas!

We went on a double date with the Makaiaus to the Punahou carnival. Remember when there was that Gravatron, ew why did I ever think it was cool to ride on it? I saw Obama in the alumni tent, well his cardboard cutout that is.

We took my mom out to Le Bistro for her birthday & Marley got the escargot because she loves the sauce. Not sure if she knows she's eating a snail, I'll let her parents drop that bomb.

geocaching

I spent the day with the cousins geocaching (google it if you don't know what it is). I couldn't post most of the pictures in case someone out there wanted to go & find the caches. Here is a cool statue I had never seen before down at Kakaako park. I was convinced the cache was in there, but it wasn't.
Despite the fact that this was a team effort, Michelle was very competitive & ran everywhere. I am glad there was another senior cousin to walk with, I'm not mentioning any names here...

Chris was here for a month on his nephrology rotation at the hospital. He never made it to the beach, this was his first time in the water :( It was fun seeing my cousin in the hospital, I kind of miss giving him a hard time & paging him over the loud speaker...hee hee.

New Year's day

Every new year's day Granny makes us Ozoni soup (mochi soup) for good luck & good fortune.

Granny cooking the ozoni.

After brunch we played a competitive game of Uno. We had brought Uno for the kids to play, but the grown ups wanted to get in on the action. It was pretty intense, next year I think we should play for money.
